Group 6: The
Arts
The study of a
subject from group 6 is optional. You may instead choose
another subject from group 2- 4.
The emphasis of
the subjects in group 6 is on creativity in the context of
disciplined, practical research into the relevant genres.
Visual Art HL/SL
As always we
find higher and standard level. Both these courses comprise
two parts:
Studio work -
drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, mixed media,
photography etc Research workbook - visual and written
research, critical analysis, exploration of cultural and
historical themes

SYLLABUS
OUTLINE
Studio
work
Students
following both Option A and Option B will be introduced to
art concepts and techniques through practical work in the
studio. At both HL and SL, opportunities for students to
experience a structured and progressive approach
to the
exploration of materials and equipment including drawing, 3D
work in clay & other materials, printmaking, painting and
the use of digital media.
Investigation workbooks
All students
will produce investigation workbooks which are integral to
studio practice and should reflect the student's critical
visual and written investigation undertaken. The relative
importance of the investigation workbooks depends on whether
the student has chosen option A or option B. They should
reflect the student's interests and include wide-ranging
first-hand investigations into issues and ideas related to
visual arts.
