Dear ALS Parents and Students,
Welcome to a new school year at Advanced Learning Schools. We hope that you had a good and restful summer holiday. As we begin this year, we welcome a number of new staff members, new students and parents to the school and we look forward to the ways in which they will contribute to our community
A new school year is always exciting. Our programmes each year are structured to ensure that all our students continue to receive a well-rounded and challenging education. Our standards and expectations remain high! As always, our number one goal is providing our students with a quality educational experience in a safe, caring and nurturing environment; our focus will be on allowing each child the opportunity to encounter new challenges that will result in a rewarding school experience. We will continue to implement policies and procedures in the best interest of the health, safety and security of all members of the school community and so we kindly ask you to make sure that you read the Parent Student Handbook and discuss it with your child.
We would also like to draw your attention to the fact that there has been an amendment to the school uniform. We have added two items that are now a part of the ALS school uniform. Grades K-6 can now choose to wear navy blue skorts for girls, or navy blue pants for boys and girls. Grades 7 to 9 can choose to wear navy blue pants or continue with the old ALS training suit uniform. All of these available at school for purchase. Furthermore grades 10 and 11 can opt to buy their own navy blue pants if they choose not to wear the ones the school has supplied. Students, for this year, can also opt to wear the old training suit uniform at any point. Grade 12 remains without a school uniform as a senior privilege as long as they abide by the dress code agreed upon. During Physical Education all students are expected to have the regular ALS training suit uniform.
At ALS we believe in a partnership between home and school. Hence we always encourage parents to get involved in their children’s education and to maintain an open line of communication with the teachers and with us. We believe in an open door policy and look forward to seeing you in the school. We also encourage you to get involved in the different school activities throughout the year. You will receive more information about such opportunities at a later time.
We look forward to a very productive and successful school year full of energy, enthusiasm and learning.
Best Regards,
