Admissions

The Admissions office is open daily from 07:10AM until 15:00PM, Sunday to Thursday throughout the school year. Appointments are not required; however, it is advisable to call ahead to schedule a school tour if desired. The admissions office also welcomes inquiries by telephone, fax or email. ALS accepts students throughout the school year with early registration for the next academic year during the month of May and from the beginning of August until mid-September.

Previous School Records

The acceptance of any student from Grades 2-11 is pending upon the receipt of the original file from the previous school. Payment will not be accepted nor will the student be registered in the classes unless the originals have been received. This is effective for admissions into the 2015-2016 academic year.

Once the student completes the entrance assessment and is accepted to  ALS, the admissions office will issue an acceptance letter to the parents in order to submit it to their previous school, this will ensure that the previous school will release the records to the parents. Students applying to Grade 11 normally have to be transferring from an IB diploma school and the number of credits earned will be evaluated by both the Diploma Programme Coordinator and the Principal in order to decide whether the student is able to graduate in Grade 12.

Entrance Assessment

All applicants are required to complete an entrance assessment in order to evaluate their English and Arabic language proficiency as well as their Mathematics skills. Students applying to KGI and KGII will be given tests that are developmentally appropriate for their age. Passing this assessment is mandatory for acceptance to ALS. The assessments will be administered by the counselors who will then forward the results as well as his/her recommendations to the principals for final approval.

Once the approval is reached the Admissions office will then notify the parents of the results and ask the parents to complete the necessary paperwork for admissions. Approval can also be on a conditional basis if the student demonstrates weakness in one of the areas being tested. If this is the case then a time frame is set in which the student must demonstrate the required proficiency in that area in order for them to be promoted to the next grade level.

Entrance exam fees are 5,750 S.R. payable on the day of the exam. This fee is non-refundable in case of the child fails the assessment. However, the parents do have an option to retest in 6 months without paying another fee (please note that this option is based on seat availability).

Waiting List

Any student testing for a waiting list (i.e. closed class) will be given priority in the waiting list if they have siblings attending the school.
